„Nyugodtan mondhatom, hogy a Dental World egy világszínvonalú szakmai rendezvény, és ehhez méltóan az orthodonciai szekcióban is nemzetközileg ismert és elismert szaktekintélyek fognak előadni.
A modern orthodoncia már korántsem »csak« a gyerekekről szól – hogy mást ne mondjak, a mi praxisunkban a páciensek kétharmada felnőtt.”

Dr. Lars Christensen

The Patient journey I.

}

9:40 - 11.10

Extract

This  two-lecture presentation will analyse the various stages of the patient journey through a course of orthodontic treatment. Dr Christensen will demonstrate aspects of the orthodontic journey with case examples highlighting aspects of the process that can possibly be improved to enhance the orthodontic experience. Can new digital technologies improve that patients experience? An analysis of the pros and cons of some of these technologies will be presented with illustrations from case material. Interdisciplinary case material will be used to highlight the benefits of enhanced communication between clinicians and the patients. Dr Christensen’s aim with his work on the patient journey is to improve the experience for both the patient and the orthodontist. By improving the communication between the patient and the orthodontist the chances of establishing a valid, realistic treatment plan will be greatly increased to the benefit of all parties.

Conservative Orthodontic Correction of Severe Malocclusion. Advances in Biomechanics, Bioengineering and Bone Screw Anchorage ”TAD`s”.

}

14:30 - 15:45

Extract

Common malocclusion is partly a physiologic adaptation to abnormal posture: habits, mastication, parafunction, and airway maintenance. Defining the etiology of a malocclusion is essential for planning efficient treatment. Extra-alveolar bone screws “TAD´s” provide skeletal anchorage to correct severe malocclusion.

Learning Objectives:

• Differential diagnosis of TMD and Air Ways Disorders in relation to malocclusion.

• Correct severe malocclusions conservatively, with no extractions or orthognathic surgery.

• The concept of “Progressive Bite Jumping / SUS², Herbst ”.

• Overview of available Bone-Screw / TAD`s systems and clinical procedures.

• Integrate physiologic and bioengineering principles into the interdisciplinary management of acquired malocclusion.

• Management and solutions for patients with bad cooperation / oral hygiene.

• Retention and troubleshooting.

Some helpful tips for your daily orthodontic practice

15:45 - 17:00

Extract

In my presentation I would like to give tips that can help us to solve some clinical problems in our daily orthodontic work.
What can we do, if the cooperation of our Class II-patient is insufficient?

In this topic we will talk about the twin–block-appliance as well as the Sabbagh- Universal-Spring and the use of TADs ( Mini-Screws ).

What can we do if the support of our removable appliance is bad?

In this context we will talk about C-clasps together with bonded attachments and the use of Delta-clasps as described by Dr. Clark.

What can we do if there is still a little  lateral open bite at the end of a treatment with fixed appliances or with aligners?

Self-made bonded buttons and retention plates with C-clasps can be an answer.

How can I integrate a new crown in a bonded palatal retainer ?

I will show You a crown with a palatal groove to solve this problem.

What is a simple way of evaluating the anterior symmetry, the incisal edges and the level of the gingival margin?

We use the form tool in power point to trace lines that help us to analyse our photos and to plan the tooth shaping.
At the end of my lecture I will show some clinical problems with mini-srcews and impacted lower canines.
